In Area One the Year 3 /4 s are looking at how the past affects our future. We are beginning with investigations based around what we know about dinosaurs and “how” we know about them and then moving on to researching other aspects of our past leading up to the present day. We will then be imagining how this will affect our future. At the moment we are in the process of planning an “Expo” in the second last week of term so that the students can display what they have learnt. Further information will be sent home when details are confirmed.
We encourage all children to read for at least 30 minutes for most nights of the week and to practise automatic response of times tables. Mathletics and Reading Express are also excellent resources which are accessible from home computers to enhance learning. Home learning tasks are sent home at the beginning of most weeks and are expected to be completed and returned at the end of the week. For those students who find it difficult to complete at home, there is always the option of attending “Homework Club” in the library at lunchtime on Tuesdays.
The Year 3s and 4s are looking forward to both the Woorabinda Camp and the Briars camp, which are coming up in May.
Naplan testing will be completed in May on the following dates:
Tuesday 14th May: Language Conventions and Writing
Wednesday 15th May: Reading
Thursday 16th May: Numeracy
If you have any queries regarding Naplan, please contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible.
