Today I was extremely lucky to be able to accompany 11 of our amazing students on an excursion to Lysterfield Lake. The excursion run by CHIPS aimed to help train these students to become ambassadors for our school. These students will work alongside of me to welcome new families and children to our school and to represent our school at local kindergartens. Throughout the day, the students undertook a range of challenges including learning how to sail, mountain bike ride, use a GPS to find items in a treasure hunt and ride a billy cart down a hill. At times, these activities were challenging and a little scary but all of the students showed courage and great teamwork. Captain Eric also taught us bush craft and some stories from the Bunurong People who are also ambassadors for the land that we were visiting.
This was a great educational experience and we are very grateful to Captain Eric and the volunteers from CHIPS and from the Sailability program. We also learned that the public can participate in the Sailability program. I will post the link and encourage everyone to visit.
