In 2015 we introduced the Stomp Dance Company to provide a school wide dance program and also assist Mrs Start in implementing the Annual School Concert. This was the first time that we had introduced an outside provider to assist us in developing a high quality performance and it proved to be a resounding success. Whilst this program is beneficial in supporting our preparation for concert, this is only one reason we have decided to include it within our curriculum. The Stomp Dance program supports our Physical Health and Education program in accordance with Department of Education and Training guidelines which require schools to provide a range of physical activity programs throughout the year. Additionally, research tells us that involvement with music and dance develops neural pathways that enhance student learning.

Following the success of the Stomp Dance program and positive feedback from students and parents in 2015, our School Council supported the inclusion of this ten week program within the 2016 curriculum for Term 3.

The cost of $50 per child this year will be the same as last year. We had considered including this amount within the school fees paid at the beginning of the year, but elected to hold off until Term 2 to reduce the financial burden that many families experience at the beginning of the year and to allow time for eligible parents to apply for the CSEF (Camps, Sports and Excursions Funding) which can be utilised towards this program.

As you are aware we have many ways to help you with the payment. These options are detailed on the notices already distributed to you for your child. If you have any difficulty finding the payment, please contact Debbie Dodd, our Community Liaison Officer on 5996 2878.

I consider this as a compulsory part of the curriculum and have removed any barriers that you may have so that all students can participate.

We are looking forward to the program coming into our school this year and I hope you are just as excited because you realise the benefits that it will have for your children. I appreciate your cooperation in completing and returning the forms and payments in a timely manner.
