Area 2 - Term 4 News
We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable holiday.
It is hard to believe that we are in the final term of school for 2017.
It is going to be another busy and rewarding term!
The first bell goes at 8.50 and this gives students the opportunity to get themselves organised for the start of the school day which begins at 9.00.
To assist with the transition to ‘Year One’ please encourage your child to enter the room independently, organise their own belongings and get ready for learning.
This will help build their confidence and self-esteem.
Term Three Reflections
The Term Three focus was ‘What is my place in the World?’ The children were immersed in a variety of learning activities relating to this concept. They enjoyed learning about community helpers and planning and making a model town. A highlight of the term was inviting their family members to the open morning to show them the completed displays.
Another highlight of the term was the visit from Brick Works. The students enjoyed working together to make a variety of community places out of Lego Blocks.
The annual "Blokes Night" was an enjoyable evening for all involved. It was great to see so many of our Prep families represented. The children thoroughly enjoyed spending time at school with their Dads, Stepdads, Granddads and Uncles and sharing in the sausage sizzle and activities.
The Prep students who attended the school concert had a rewarding experience. They looked fantastic in their costumes and should be congratulated on their performances. A special thank you to STOMP dancing, Sharon and the Big Ideas Team for presenting an excellent and memorable concert.
Term Four – Looking Ahead
This term we will explore the question – ‘How does what we do affect our environment?’
We have planned a variety of learning activities and experiences relating to this concept.
Rain, Hayne and Shine Farm Excursion
Wednesday October 18th – Prep A and B
Thursday October 19th – Prep C and D
Responsible Pet Education Visit: Friday November 1st (Preps attend with teacher - no cost involved.)
Grandparents Day – December – confirmation about the day and date will be sent home in the coming weeks.
End of Term Celebration: Animal Dress up Day! More information about the day and date will be provided later in the term.
Reading and Homework
Most students have established a routine of completing their homework and bringing their share bag, M100W words and home reader to school each day. Please continue to encourage and support this routine as it is important that students complete their weekly homework and practise reading at school and home every day.
Thank you to all our parents and caregivers for partnering with us to support your child’s learning.
We are looking forward to another productive term!
