Welcome to Term Three

Welcome back everyone and a special welcome to new students and their families.

Last term we learnt about how the past affects our future. The children’s work culminated in a "Time Machine" experience. The children were thrilled to share their work with their peers and teachers were so impressed by the quality of the students’ work.

This term our focus question is ‘What is My Place in the World’ which will be explored through Art. The term’s work will be celebrated through our CWPS concert and an Art Gallery Exhibition. As part of the students’ early experiences, they will be visiting a "real" Art gallery. We would like to thank Wolfdene for funding the busses for this excursion.

Interest:

Stomp Dance Lessons - will be conducted on a weekly basis. As this is part of our school curriculum, it is expected that ALL students participate. Thank you to all parents who have returned the notes and payments for this. New notes can be obtained from the school office if required.

Home Learning - students should read every night. Mathletics and Reading Eggs are available for extra practice and are positively encouraged. Students should record their reading onto the reading log.

Home Learning –teachers will send home tasks suitable for the student’s year level and ability on a weekly basis.

 CAFÉ - Reading

Improving student skills in reading remains a strong focus this term. Don’t forget to ask your children what CAFÉ menu goals they have achieved lately and which ones they are currently working towards.

TiLER Maths

The school is still focusing on improving the students’ understanding of number, using TiLER maths strategies.

This is being approached using more non-traditional methods, where students are investigating number strategies through open ended tasks.

Maths concepts and fluency (being able to do maths quickly and efficiently) will be further developed by playing engaging and enriching maths games.

Please remember that if you wish to speak to your child’s teacher it is a good idea to make an appointment. It is often difficult to talk properly at the start or end of the school day.
